Apple’s forthcoming iPhone 6S will use the same strengthened aluminium found in the Apple Watch Sport, according to a new report from analyst Ming Chi Kuo.
Kuo backs up previous claims made by supply chain sources about the use of so–called 7,000 Series aluminium.
When it revealed the Apple Watch Sport, Apple explained that the material was 60% stronger then regular aluminium with a third of the density of stainless steel.
While users are unlikely to notice any immediate difference, it should make the iPhone 6S more resistant to bumps and scrapes compared to previous models.
Kuo also reasserts his claim that Apple will release a new rose gold-coloured iPhone to go alongside the top–end version of its smartwatch.
This would sit alongside the existing grey, silver and champagne variants already on offer.
The iPhone 6S is expected to hit shelves in autumn, with the same design as the current iPhone 6. Word is it’ll feature improved RAM, an all-new set of cameras and Apple’s Force Touch technology.
