Apple has only just started selling its Apple Watch in–store. But already rumours are flying about its plans for the second-generation editions of its heavily hyped timepiece.

According to ‘multiple sources familiar with Apple’s plans’ the Cupertino company is already hard at work on the Apple Watch 2.

Word is the device will come with a FaceTime camera. This was broadly hinted at during the company’s WWDC event last week, when it revealed that its forthcoming watchOS 2 would allow current Apple Watches to answer FaceTime audio via the device and route video calls to a connected iPhone.

While the aforementioned watchOS 2 is set to bring native apps to the Apple Watch, the same sources say Apple is planning far greater independence for the Apple Watch 2.

They claim that a new, more powerful chipset will be used, allowing users to send texts, email and receive key data without having to pair the wearable with an iPhone.

This should also mean the launch of a Find My Watch tool within iCloud, much like the existing Find My iPhone function.
